Transportation Worker Identification Credential & Identity Stronghold
We know your privacy is important. The TWIC card you are required to obtain utilizes Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This technology is incorporated in a radio chip that has the potential to reveal personal information without your knowledge or consent. You can easily secure your information and protect your privacy by keeping your card in a radio shielding holder such as the Secure Badgeholder® from Identity Stronghold.

Purchase your Secure Badgeholder or Secure Sleeve® by buying online or calling 800-610-2770.
The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is required to gain unescorted access to secure areas of the nation's maritime transportation system. TWIC is administered by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Coast Guard. TWICs are tamper-resistant biometric credentials that will be issued to workers who require unescorted access to secure areas of ports, vessels, outer continental shelf facilities and all credentialed merchant mariners. You can get additional TWIC information and start your application online at www.tsa.gov/twic or call 1-866-347-8942.
Many people turn to Identity Stronghold once they obtain a TWIC card because we provide an important security device that protects you from potential identity theft and/or loss of privacy. Your new TWIC will contain a RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip. This chip allows you to access port areas by waving your card near a scanner. While this makes it easier and quicker to use your card, there is a potential security risk. Data on your card can be read remotely via radio waves without contact. The chip in your card contains a lot of important personal information, which you may not want others to access.
All new US Government employees are currently being issued a similar card called the PIV card. Government regulations require all PIV cards to be issued with a government approved radio frequency shielding badge holder such as our Secure Badgeholder Classic, Secure Badgeholder DuoLite™, or Secure Sleeve for ID and payment cards. No such requirement is in place for the TWIC even though it contains the same type of information as the PIV card. It is up to the worker to obtain their own privacy protecting shielded badge holder.
